We’re calling this month’s marital challenge: Routine Tunes!

If you have the privilege of seeing your spouse every day at a certain time, your challenge is to pick a random album, play it, and dance to it.

Insight for those who have been sent home because of coronavirus health concerns and preventions. I’d like to give you a virtual elbow bump and temporarily welcome you to the literal world of “home work”.

A few days ago I shared about my Koozie that helps me keep track of how much water I’ve had every day. While I was attempting to make my water koozie, I had an idea for a tarrazzo koozie. I was going to use my new koozie for my water bottle, but I had a bare plant jar on my coffee table and decided to try it out on the jar—- and I love how it turned out.

Felt is one of my favorite mediums to use. This DIY was spontaneous and I wasn’t even sure how these were going to turn out. But I really love them!

And, thanks to my water koozie, I’ve been drinking a lot more water!

How do you keep track of how much water you drink?

Here’s the thing— I’m not an earrings person. I’ve had my ears pierced since forever, and could show you on both hands how many times I’ve worn earrings in the past fifteen years. I can’t wear most earrings because I’m allergic to the metal, and I’m not always pumped about the price of the earring I can wear.

But I’ve always loved the idea of earrings (I think they make me look a bit more grown up, does anyone else feel this way when they wear earrings?). The first pair of earrings I owned were a pair of kitty cats. Because I was a cool kid.

I’ve noticed I used to share over-positively on Facebook (I’ve been on Facebook since 2005, my sophomore year of High School). So I thought it would be fun to grab a few pictures from my facebook and share what I was really thinking behind my silly faces and crazy outfits. When Bos passed away, I asked my family to write a few poems to commemorate him. I then turned those poems into illustrations. For awhile, I wasn’t sure what to do with the illustrations until recently I had the idea to turn the illustrations of Bos into a pop up book. So, that’s what I did!

One of the main products I offer in my business, The Vow Collective, is a frame with my vow calligraphy on the left and a dried floral arrangement of pressed flowers on the right. I want to give couples the opportunity to press their bouquets or a special bouquet of flowers from their significant other. What you may or may not see of my marriage behind the Social Media curtain, is that Brett and I are very independent/individualistic spouses. It’s important we schedule time together (especially without work) and it’s important we schedule intentional and meaningful experiences together and with other people— or else our time together becomes sitting in front of the television or work-filled!

Entering into 2020 has been a sluggish and hazy experience for me. We started off the year sick. I felt a little lost in a haze and I didn’t get around considering my goals and plans until this week. Sparkvoice (SparkVoice is an online community and mentoring program for women and girls. They believe every woman has a voice and a path that matter, no matter how young or old she is) has a really meaningful post on reflecting and choosing who you want to be this year (which is very hard, but necessary for us Enneagram 9’s).

What would we do without our best gals? Our bosom friends. Our kindred spirits. Without them, who would we admit how many oreos we eat to? Who would we cry our eyes out to on Marco Polo? Who would we dance in deserted parking lots with? Who would we dress up as pirates with to get free Krispy Kreme?

I love putting together outfits, but I never seem to have the motivation to consider jewelry after all the effort I feel like I’m putting into my hair, makeup, and outfits. As I’ve been planning this jewelry challenge, I’ve also been considering why I don’t wear it often. For some reason, I equate jewelry with fanciness. If I wear jewelry, I feel weird not having the rest of my outfit, hair, and makeup on as well. So, I opt to not wear it most days. And if I do wear it, I’m one of those people who puts on a necklace and is too lazy to take it off, so I end up wearing it a month or two. Ya feel me?

Intentionality. The number one word behind The Vow Collective is intentionality. As a wife, I want to keep my conversations with my husband both meaningful and purposeful. As a calligrapher, I want my clients to be encouraged to keep their marriage a priority as they encounter their vows on their bedroom walls every day.
