April Marriage Challenge | Routine Tunes!
Hi friends!
Every month The Vow Collective hosts a marriage challenge. Last month’s was Read Together!
While some month’s our challenges will have more to do with connecting and communicating, this month’s has everything to do with routine-ing together. More specifically, choosing to let loose together. Foot loose.
We’re calling this month’s marital challenge: Routine Tunes!
If you have the privilege of seeing your spouse every day at a certain time, your challenge is to pick a random album, play it, and dance to it.
I’ve heard through the very loud microphone social media currently is, that individuals, roommates, couples, and families are struggling to keep routines at home while social distancing. When I found out Brett would be staying home, not attending classes, or rushing off to the library in the mornings, I thought it would be fun for us to spice up our morning routine a bit. To have something to look forward to every morning while we make or eat breakfast. Keeping our choosing to random picks adds a little bit of surprise for both of us.
We have two record stands in our living room we’ve been randomly selecting our albums from. You could also write down on individual pieces of paper albums each person in your family loves, then pull a piece of paper from the jar every morning or every week. Elsie Larson does this with her kids as a way to introduce them to new music.
So go ahead and jig-i-fy your routines with this month’s marriage challenge. I hope the therapy of music brings you some joy and hope during this weird and challenging season.
