A few weeks ago, I set up a quick self-portrait shoot with myself. I wanted it to feel vintage and parisian (hence the beret). And I didn’t want to spend any money to make my photos look filmy and as if they are from another era.

do you know what the common denominator was when they decided they wanted to elope?

They all simply wanted… intimacy (I know what you’re thinking— how do you elope in New York City and have intimacy when there’s a million strangers walking by? Y’all, this is one of the most romantic cities in the world, it’s easy to tune out the rest of the world where your beloved is standing in front of you declaring their love for you).

So you just invested in a 30 minute photo session and now you’re wondering…. how can I, the person being photographed, make the most of the time I’ve booked to get the photos I dreamed of?

One of the biggest wedding trends we saw in 2023 that I think will be a super big wedding trend moving into 2024 is the “Get married now, party later” concept. SO MANY of my couples were eloping in New York City for the city vibes and iconic backdrop, but most of them were planning on having a big wedding party to celebrate their union later in the year. Couples are really breaking tradition. They want there to be a sacredness to their wedding ceremony and they want their ceremonies to really scream “intimate”. And I don’t blame them. Sometimes it's really nice to just enjoy celebrating with others at a more casual party later instead of putting on a huge production of a wedding day.

As we look forward to 2024, Luis and Angela's elopement beautifully exemplifies the magic that can happen in the most unexpected places. It's a reminder that love, in all its forms, should be celebrated and cherished. Love can bloom across borders, through screens, and in the crowded streets of New York City.

I can already see the leaves in Stars Hollow changing from green to golden brown! I can smell the crisp scent of cooler weather in the air. And most importantly, I can see the Autumn Outfits straight from the early 2000’s returning for one more go in 2023.

It’s hard to walk the photography entrepreneur road alone, especially as a creative who is both growing as a photographer AND as a business owner. Last week, I sat across from one of my clients at a coffee/flower shop on the Lower East Side and she nervously told me the reason she booked a photo session with me was because she wanted to work on her own confidence. She squirmed a bit and her eyes darted all around the room as she explained wanting to get our of her comfort zone more. I could tell she was nervous. I thought— Wow, getting in front of a camera can feel SO vulnerable, she is so brave.

Patricia is an opera singer who is based in Manhattan and travels the world singing. We took a handful of photos with her in her music studio with music scattered around her. We also took a few of her reading some of her favorite books and novels. And then we took a walk in a nearby park (this park was so cool!) that has a really beautiful bridge that connects to The Bronx.

A behind the scenes peak at This is Inherent’s Fall 2022 Photoshoot. This is Inherent is a men’s fashion brand passionate about clothing and men’s mental health. And the pieces from this collection are absolute fire. Our photoshoot started at Washington Square, wrapped around Chelsea and Little Island, then ended at Time Square.

Two lovers, up in the clouds on top of the city. Dan was high on proposal nerves and worried that the clouds would obstruct the view, but after finding the right spot with an amazing cloud-free view, he pulled the ring out, got down on his knee, and proposed. And she said yes while everyone around them cheered them on and applauded their skyscraper love.

I put together the most basic, fun, and “Stacie” experience I could think of: Coffee, Dessert, and Photos in Central Park. Fully expecting no one to sign up, except… they did. And after about a month of Photo Sessions, I’ve been able to meet so many cool people and do this really weird niche thing and really really enjoy it.

Hannah and Paul were both goofy and giggly during our session, and I think their photos really show that.
