I'll Have What She's Having | PopCulture meets Window Shopping | January

  1. January has been all about women in television for me. To try to convince you to binge your life away, I’m gong to tell you what I felt watching each of these shows:

I felt SO many things (grief, immense happiness, anger, love) watching the last season of Anne with An E (and I’ve written to Netflix TWICE begging them not to cancel the show, but it seems that’s almost impossible).

I felt simultaneously sick to my stomach and super sweaty watching Season 2 of Good Girls. I YELL AND TALK BACK TO MY TELEVISION watching this show. It has a 91% on Rotten Tomatoes.

I cried during every episode of Cheer and have been convinced all my children will be artists, spelling champions, or theatre majors. But not cheerleaders.

Dollface reminded me of why I love being a millennial and simultaneously made me appreciate quirky television. When a girl is getting mentored by a cat lady, but only in her mind, you’ve hit gold.

  2. Other shows we have cried or laughed through every episode this month: Encore, Imagineers, The Good Place, Schitt’s Creek, This is Us, and Community. Maybe we should watch less television. Or maybe I want to tell you why you should fall for each of these shows.

  3. An illustrated take on New York City for beginners. If you know someone moving to the city or visiting, this covers everything you need to know when traipsing around the city.

  4. Entering into 2020 has been a sluggish and hazy experience for me. We started off the year sick. I felt a little lost in a haze and I didn’t get around considering my goals and plans until this week. Sparkvoice (SparkVoice is an online community and mentoring program for women and girls. They believe every woman has a voice and a path that matter, no matter how young or old she is) has a really meaningful post on reflecting and choosing who you want to be this year (which is very hard, but necessary for us Enneagram 9’s).

  5. My favorite thing about Central Park lately is the way it gets super foggy when rain storms move through. It’s a piece of art I could stare at for hours.

  6. Hotdogs and Smoothies are a thing in New York City. We’ve been introduced to TWO different venues whose schtick is hotdogs and smoothies. I thought this was weird at first, but, like most things here, I’m loving it.

  7. Brett, I don’t know if you read these posts, but I would like these for Valentine’s day. And an assorted chocolate box. Thanks!
