Baroque Inspired Pillows and Curtains from Society6 that elevate our small NYC Apartment

Laying on my Society6 Pillows! They are easy to clean and come in SO many different patterns, I had so much trouble choosing.

I think one of the best things about being in my thirties is figuring out more and more what my home decorating style is.

I think one of the worst things about being in my thirties is figuring out that the style I love is expensive.

Have I ever owned a home? Nope. But somehow, I’m settling into my style more, and, as a renter, finding my signature style actually forces me to get more creative with how I decorate.

I’ve never been allowed to paint walls, remodel, or put up that full wall of built-in bookshelves I’ve always wanted to install.

But I’m trying my best to liven up our small 485 squre foot New York City apartment with the budget I do have… and what I’m discovering about my style, is that I actually love a maximalist look. If I could wallpaper everything I would, but that’s expensive and not a task I want to take on in a rental.

With Pinterest at my fingertips, it’s insane I can have so many ideas that directly inspire my home—  For an NYC renter like me, some ideas are more realistic than others, especially living on a budget.

Let me tell you, I daydream about it all the time— if I had a buy-anything-you-want decorating budget and I was given the chance to decorate my 485 square feet in any way, I’d have decked it out by now with those built in bookshelves and wall papered ceilings. For now… I’m delightingin the maximalism I bring to the space with my pillows and curtains.

A few months ago, I took a look at all my home design pinterest boards I’ve pinned over the past ten years and started to pick out common themes on all my boards. What kinds of living rooms did I pin frequently? What kind of rugs do I pin frequently? What kind of pillows did I pin frequently?

Turns out, when you start to pick out commonalities, you really start to nail down your style a bit more.

I’m a mid-century modern gal who also has a flair for funky designs and baroque.

Once I figured out my colors and my style a bit more, I started looking for pillows and curtains that would compliment the green couch/white wall/natural wood situation we already have.

And that’s where Society6 comes in! I literally found Baroque Inspired Pillows and Curtains that fit our vibe perfectly.

I found so many artist’s designs on Society6 that I loved and it was actually really challenging to pick my favorites. It took me months to decide what I wanted to invest in.

But I LOVE my curtains and pillows and absolutely feel as if they’ve changed the entire feel and character of the room.

So many people walk in and immediately ask where I got my curtains and pillows from, so I know the time deliberated was worth it. And yes, my pillows matching my curtains is on purpose.

With these curtains and pillows our living room went from being a clean neutral aesthetic, to being a baroque midcentury fusion. And I love how it turned out.

So, if you’re looking to refresh your space with decor that is really truly unique— decor almost everyone else certainly does not have— consider investing in a Society6 piece.

This is the artist whose work I used. I really loved their style.

Have you ever purchased anything from Society6? I’d love to hear how you’re coming into your own style and elevating your space in the comments!

Take Care!
