Snow Day in Central Park
Since moving to New York two years ago, I have really enjoyed being a photographer in this crazy city. I have nature and cityscapes at my finger tips and it’s such a privilege to get to photograph both.
But it’s crazy to say, I’ve NEVER experienced a snow day in Central Park, so of course I had to bring my camera…. I LIVE for snow lighting.
If you’re ever in Central Park on a snow day, I highly recommend walking the entire park if you can. There’s so much to see and it’s absolutely gorgeous. We mainly walked The Reservoir, by The Conservatory Garden, the Nature Preserve, and The Mall. I like to walk the Trail around the Reservoir, not the direct path on the Reservoir.
Whenever I photograph people in Central Park, I really just feel like I’m on a long walk getting to know new friends, so walking the park with our friends felt so fun and natural.
Literally everyone was out there walking or sledding. I had never realized that when people ride their plastic sleds so much those sleds break into loads of pieces after awhile. The park and trashcans were littered full of plastic sleds. So, if you’re visiting on a snow day or if your’e interested in sledding in the city, I’d encourage you to get a sturdy sled you can use over and over again that isn’t plastic.
