I'll Have What She's Having | Birthday Edition!
I’ve been on this earth for 31 years and I’ve only just figured out how to communicate what I want for Christmas + Birthdays. Throughout the year I keep a sticky note on my desktop and anytime I find something I want to buy, but can’t afford or want to save for later, I add the link to that item to my sticky note. I’ve heard there’s apps for this and Amazon even has “lists” I’ve participated in. But, as I try to shop small and try to not just shop on Amazon, I’ve found a simple “sticky on the desktop” works great!
So when my birthday rolled around this year, I rounded up the linked items and emailed them to my Brett, my husband! And I’m sharing my list with you too, just in case you need to shop around a bit or be inspired for your birthday list this year!
Hats (as you know, I wear many hats, literally and figuratively):
THIS ICE CREAM BERET OMG.
I bought myself two Gigi Pip Hats for my birthday. And I absolutely love them and will probably wear them too much and will probably have to make a rule about how often I can wear them.
Skincare:
This Neutrogena Moisturizer feels so good morning and night.
This natural shimmery KANI oil makes me smell SO florally and pretty. I already have some and asked for more because I use it so much. If I could have one on my nightstand and one in my purse— EEEK.
You can’t go wrong with Rose and Lavender Face Toners to freshen up your face throughout the day.
Peach fuzz and mustache BE GONE with tinkles. I started using these about two years ago, and haven’t looked back. I use them about every 2-3 days and love how smooth my skin feels. I don’t miss waxing and I don’t miss having my skin burn as I bleached or Nair’d my stache away.
Keepsake:
Y’all, my mom’s got it going on. You already know that. But she super EXTRA had it going on back in the day when she scrapbooked my entire life and gifted it to me when I graduated from high school. I have three VERY large scrapbooks that are VERY heavy. I love love love them. They make me laugh and cry. I’ve been wondering if I could take a picture of each page and then make a chat book of each scrapbook— something less heavy, but still memorable. This is an idea I’ve had for awhile and really hope to do this year!
Make up:
I’ve never bought makeup brushes, so the idea of having different brushes with different purposes sounds SO exciting.
Mind and Body:
Just give me a simple 32 oz water bottle and a subscription to Kira Stokes, and I’m a fit girl! I’ve noticed I don’t drink water if there isn’t a straw or sucker on or in my cup, so this water bottle would really fit my needs. Have you ever tried the Kira Stokes app for workouts? They’re tough, but she’s really good at making me aware of my muscles, how I should be doing workouts correctly, and what I need to focus on to tone.
There ya have it! That’s my window shopping/birthday list! It was short and very me.
As for Pop Culture, it feels like we’ve had a lot of opportunities to re-listen to albums and to watch shows we never had time to before. With most of our shows on hiatus until 2021, it’s been fun to pick new old shows to watch!
We just started Smash, and much to my surprise, Brett is sold and fully invested. I can’t get any of the songs unstuck from my brain, so I’m feeling very Marilyn lately.
I’m missing Manhattan and going through a Sarah Bareilles phase… so this song is on my “when I feel sad” playlist.
I’m dying over the very vague Bachelorette teaser ABC released. I might have an unpopular opinion (that truly doesn’t matter), but I wasn’t looking forward to Claire Crawley as the Bachelorette at all, so I’m sort of excited for a really confusing and crazy season.
Alley Cats Strike on Disney + for a throwback! I love Kaley Cuoco’s 50’s style in the movie. I remember being OBSESSED with that show when I was little and really wanting to have a hoard of poodle skirts in my closet. It also made me think if I got into bowling I could meet a cute boy and we could bowl together and be best friends. Ahhhh, Disney, you got me.
Have you been watching any old Disney Channel Original Movies too? Do you have a favorite?
